Abstract

Stark broadening constants of 8 Kr I lines in the red and near infrared part of the spectrum have been determined. The light was emitted by a cascade arc which was operated in a gas mixture of Ne, Ar, and Kr and observed end-on with a piezo-scanned Fabry-Perot interferometer. The profiles were analyzed by means of a tabulation of the Voigt profile of Davies and Vaughan. The electron density was obtained from the measured Stark width of the Ar I line 425.9 nm with use of a published broadening constant.
