Abstract
Although grid-forming converters can mimic the external characteristics of synchronous generators, their energy con-version is achieved through power electronics made of semiconductor materials. As a result, its current output capabil-ity is limited and it does not behave like a synchronous generator in the event of a grid fault. Moreover, various current limiting strategies affect the dynamic characteristics of grid-forming converter. In this paper, the effects of different current limiting strategies on grid-forming converters are investigated. In this paper, current prioritization strategies in d-axis and q-axis as well as current limiting strategies by scaling down are considered.
