Abstract

This chapter evaluates the rain drop shapes reconstructed from 2D video disdrometer measurements together with fall velocity data. The chapter examines the effect of asymmetric drop oscillations on the measured Zdr and assesses the consequences on the estimation of rainfall rates from polarimetric radar observations. Special consideration is given to "turbulent" events. The chapter employs concomitant radar observations from S- and C-band research rad
