Abstract
Currently common timber construction methods are solid timber construction or timber frame construction, which use sustainable building materials, but they require a high level of expertise and usually also heavy machinery and transporters. With the help of the new building system from " wood-bricks" laymen can bring in a high portion of own work. The system enables new buildings and also renovations as well as post-densification (additional floors in lightweight construction) in existing buildings. The construction method was investigated in terms of building physics, statics and structural design using calculations and hygrothermal, multidimensional simulations. These analyses enabled problem areas to be identified and optimized before execution. In this way, 26 component structures and, as a result, 43 connection details could be planned to be free of mold and condensation. After theoretical investigations, the construction method was put to practical use in several projects.
