Students of architecture are instructed in principles of mechanics for building constructions and relevant topics. They should be able to recognize the system of forces that are at work on a construction, estimate their quantities, and consequently develop a structure for transferring these forces to the foundation soil.
In addition, students are shown solutions for detailing different elements of a structure in order to enable them to transform, in the course of the design process, a static functional model into a real structure.
In various lectures students are offered a general survey of the classification of building constructions. Furthermore, they also get acquainted with building materials and methods most appropriate for the execution of different systems, as well as with latest developments in construction systems and building techniques and their underlying reasons.
