Description
The absorptive precipitation of sulfur dioxide from dilute gaseous mixtures with aequeous solution of chromate was tested. Objective of this work was to combine detoxication of aequeous chromate with absorptive desulfurization of off-gas. The mechanism of absorption was investigated. For that purpose the feed concentration of chromate was varied. The feed concentration of sulfur dioxide was held within the range of representative off-gas concentration levels ( 3000 mg/m3). The investigation of mass transfer and rate control was based on experiments in a film absorption column.
