Project Details

The boundary element method (BEM) is an attractive alternative to the finite element method but lags behind in its development. The aim of the research work is to extend its capabilities to deal with plasticity, linear inclusions, heterogeneous material, dynamics and sequential excavation. The innovations are implemented in the computer program BEFE++. The main application of the work is in tunneling, underground hydroelectric schemes and in the interaction of structures with the ground (earthquake effects, wind turbines)
