Project Details
Description
The development, validation, and verification of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) functions is a grand challenge due to the complexity and the huge number and variety of scenarios and environmental conditions. Traditional methods like road tests have to be enhanced by proper simulation models and virtual approaches to take into account crucial requirements including development time, costs, and safety. The interaction between sensors and their environment is described and simulated by sensor models. Consequently, realistic (physics-based) mathematical representations of environmental perception sensors (also covering measurement and model uncertainties) are a vital pre-conditions to for ADAS/AD development.
